About Me

Hi! My name is Nicole, but my friends call me Nix. I began my Pilates journey back in the days when workout DVDs were still a thing. Growing up, my mom and I would roll out our mats in the living room and perform the DVD routines together.

I loved how creative and flowy the movements were. “Rolling like a ball” was my favorite move at the time. For a girl who completely missed the boat on any kind of dancing or cheerleading, Pilates provided the perfect creative physical outlet.

The free flowing movement, in addition to the required precision, created the perfect set of tools that I would continue to use for the rest of my life.

That’s why, in college, I became a certified mat Pilates instructor and taught classes on and off for the next decade. I’m now a full-time fitness professional and have taught hundreds of group classes and private sessions. Even though I no longer have a DVD player to watch the OG Pilates ladies, I still take as many classes as I can. I finally feel like I am living in ~alignment~, both literally and figuratively (yes, that’s a Pilates pun).

Back in the early 2000’s when I was doing Pilates with my mom, I had no idea the size of the community that has been impacted by Pilates. My goal with “Pilates by Nix” is to connect with some of those people, and maybe even invite new friends to the party.

xoxo,
